The NetVanta 3140 is a fixed-port, high-performance Ethernet router designed to support converged access and high-quality Voice services. It features three routed, autosensing Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, making it suitable for enterprise-class Internet access and secure corporate connectivity.

Place the NetVanta 3140 on a flat, stable surface or install it in a standard 19-inch equipment rack (rack-mounting hardware not included). Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid placing the device near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

4. Initial Configuration (Console Access)
For initial configuration or advanced management, connect a computer to the CONSOLE port using a serial cable (DB9). Use a terminal emulation program (e.g., PuTTY, Tera Term) with the following settings:

System Boot-up

Basic Network Operation
Once configured, the NetVanta 3140 will route traffic between its Gigabit Ethernet interfaces according to its configuration. It supports features such as Quality of Service (QoS) for prioritizing traffic and Voice over IP (VoIP) readiness for voice services.
