2. Align the Makita 18V battery with the battery slot at the base of the shears.

1. Long press the power switch (located at the base of the handle) for 3 seconds to turn on the shears.
2. Press the trigger twice quickly to activate the blade. The blades will open to their maximum capacity.

4.2. Adjusting Cutting Diameter

The PR-E50 allows adjustment between 30mm and 50mm cutting diameters for different branch sizes.

1. With the shears powered on and blades open, long press the trigger for 3 seconds until you hear a beep.
2. The cutting diameter will switch between 50mm and 30mm. Repeat the process to toggle between sizes.

4.3. Using with Extension Pole (Sold Separately)

For high-branch trimming, the PR-E50 is compatible with an extension pole (extends up to 9.2 feet).

• Attach the shears securely to the extension pole according to the pole's instructions.

5.1. Blade Cleaning and Lubrication

Regular cleaning and lubrication extend blade life and maintain cutting performance.

1. Ensure the shears are powered off and the battery is removed.
2. Clean the blades after each use to remove sap and debris.
3. Apply a few drops of lubricating oil to the blade pivot point and cutting edge. The design allows for lubrication without disassembling the blades.

5.2. Blade Sharpening

Use the provided sharpening stone to maintain blade sharpness as needed.

1. Ensure the shears are powered off and the battery is removed.
2. Carefully sharpen the cutting edge of the blade using the sharpening stone, following the original blade angle.
