- Magnetic Stripe Payment (Swipe): Swipe the customer's magnetic stripe card through the slot on the side of the device.

4.2. Scanning Barcodes and Adding Items
The Square Handheld features a built-in barcode scanner to quickly add items to a sale or manage inventory. You can also use the camera to add items.

To Scan an Item:
- From the checkout screen, look for the scanner icon (often resembling a barcode) at the top right corner. If not visible, swipe down from the top of the screen to access quick settings and enable the scanner.
- Press the dedicated scanner button on the side of the device.
- Aim the scanner at the barcode of the item. The device will register the item.
To Create a New Item (if not found):
- If an item is not found after scanning, a prompt will appear. Tap 'Create Item'.
- Select the item you just scanned from the options.
- Fill in or edit the item details, such as item name, categories, and price. You can also manage inventory stock levels.
- Tap 'Save' to finalize the new item. Once saved, you can quickly scan it for future transactions.
4.3. Tableside Ordering and Line Busting
The portable design of the Square Handheld allows staff to take orders directly at tables or assist customers in long lines, improving service speed and efficiency.
