The ORCA Sauna is a collaborative expression of both East and West Coasts, designed in partnership with California-based studio ORCA. Drawing its core inspiration from ice fishing huts found across the Northeast and Scandinavia alike, we have reimagined our Iska Sauna to thoughtfully blend in both materials and surrounding landscapes from the West Coast.

 The ORCA Sauna is clad entirely in cedar shakes treated with ORCA’s Wood Patina, providing an accelerated silvering of the wood that would otherwise be achieved over the years through exposure to the outside elements. This material and finish provide an intentional connection to centuries of coastal architecture, purposefully used in environments requiring shelter from harsh environments.

The porch includes both ORCA’s copper outdoor shower and towel hooks, functional and aesthetic elements that complement the additional antique brass fixtures found on the exterior of the sauna. Convenient shower access shapes your garden or even more remote setting into a quiet oasis amid the surrounding elements.

 Designed to sit 2-4 people comfortably, the ORCA Sauna provides an exceptional outdoor sauna experience with surrounding glass on all sides. A HUUM CLIFF 6kW heater is used inside, insulated with ROCKWOOL and a vapor barrier. Traditional passive airflow is achieved through the floor, exiting through a vent below the upper bench.

Delivered fully assembled, the ORCA Sauna is a true melding of Harbor’s maritime design principles and ORCA’s connection to the landscapes and palette of the West Coast. Together, we’ve created a structure meant to sit quietly yet distinctively within the elements — built to last, age with grace, and provide a rhythm of restoration for decades to come.

First Time Use, Break-In Procedure, & Temperature Setting


Before using your sauna for the first time, run the HUUM heater at full temperature for 1–2 hours with no one inside. This initial heater run removes any residual oils, dust, or coatings from manufacturing. Keep the door slightly open to ventilate the space and allow any odors to dissipate. After the sauna cools, check that the stones are properly seated with adequate airflow. Do not pour water on the stones during this first run. Once this procedure is complete, your sauna is ready for regular use.

By default, the HUUM heater arrives set to 194°F for safety reasons. To adjust the maximum temperature of your sauna, press and hold the HUUM controller button for 5 seconds to access the main menu. Navigate to Heating Settings and set your desired maximum temperature (up to 230°F). Press the back button to return to the main menu and confirm four warnings to finalize the change. After adjusting, verify that the new maximum temperature is reflected in the controller before regular use.

To set heating duration (3, 6, 12, or 18 hours, with a default of 3 hours), press & hold the button for 10 seconds to access the settings. For a timed start, press & hold for 3 seconds, choose the start time and confirm with a short press. During heating, the screen stays active, showing a heating icon. The controller will automatically turn off when heating ends. To access additional settings, hold the button for 10 seconds.
• To connect the UKU WiFi control system with the HUUM mobile app, start by linking the control panel to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network (note: it doesn’t support 5 GHz or 6 GHz). To access the settings menu, press and hold the control panel button for 10 seconds. Then navigate to “WiFi settings,” select “WiFi SSID,” and choose your network. You’ll need to ensure the network names are unique to avoid issues. Enter the WiFi password (max 20 characters), select “Connect,” and follow the instructions to complete the setup. Then, proceed with the HUUM app setup for mobile control.

Turn your sauna on and waiting for it to reach your desired temperature.= Beginners may want to begin around 150-175°F before working up to a more experienced temperature between 180-200°F. We recommend hydrating properly before entering. To keep the interior clean, mitigate any heat from the benches, and prevent any potential damage to the wood from sweat, we recommend using a towel or robe during your time in the sauna.

The bench you choose inside the sauna will significantly impact your experience. The higher bench offers more intense heat, while the lower bench will be a bit cooler. You can always move between levels to find your comfort zone.

 To create steam, gently pour a small amount of water onto the rocks to increase humidity and the heat – this is known as “löyly.” Be sure to avoid pouring water directly on the heating element to prevent damage, and pour the water slowly to prevent splashing on the windows which can lead to damage over time.

Ventilation is another important part of the sauna experience. To heat your sauna quickly, you’ll want to start with the vent beneath the upper bench partially or fully closed. Slide it open to introduce fresh air once at your desired temperature. If desired, you can adjust this during your time in the sauna as a way to cool or heat using fresh air. At the end of your time in the sauna, be sure to keep the vent open to facilitate fresh airflow and minimize moisture buildup.

Before using the sauna, consult a doctor if you have any health conditions, such as heart problems, high blood pressure, or respiratory issues. You should also seek medical advice if you are pregnant, as high temperatures may pose risks. It is important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after your sauna session to prevent dehydration. You should also avoid alcohol when using the sauna.

 If you’re new to saunas, limit your time on the higher bench and consider moving to the lower bench or stepping out if you feel light-headed. It is highly recommended to exit the sauna if you are not feeling well. Children should always be accompanied when using the sauna, keeping temperatures lower and sessions no longer than 10 minutes. Be sure to supervise them at all times around the heating elements.

A thoughtful addition to gardens, pool areas and saunas, the Outdoor Shower is crafted from copper and brass that will take on a beautiful patina with continued use. This shower is reduced down to its most elemental form: pipe, valves for flow, and a generous shower head.

 We offer this shower exclusively for our sauna builds for its natural integration with the brass fixtures we utilize on our exteriors. Just as we envision our saunas looking better with time spent in the outdoors, this shower will age timelessly over the years ahead.

The ORCA Outdoor Shower will arrive pre-installed on the sauna unit and ready for final on-site hookup. The plumber will need to connect hot and cold water lines to the exposed 1” copper pipe stubs provided at the shower connection point. If the water supply run exceeds 50 feet from the main water heater, we recommend installing an inline water heater on or near the sauna to ensure consistent hot water delivery at the shower.

Our sauna exteriors come pre-treated in your choice of stain or protectant. Over time, all our exterior treatments will weather gracefully, forming a patina with exposure to the elements. This is a natural process and will vary visually based on the treatment you select, UV exposure, and sauna placement.

 Prior to leaving our production facility, we treat our saunas with one or a combination of three exterior stains or protectants: Weathered Grey Pre- Patina, Black Viking Linseed Oil, or CUTEK Extreme Clear Wood Protection. The exterior treatments will vary up on your wood and aesthetic selections while designing your sauna. All of these treatments do not necessarily require you to perform routine reapplications, but you are welcome to do so if desired, or as you see fit, depending on the environment your sauna is placed.

To maintain the beauty and longevity of your sauna’s interior benches, we recommend reapplying Paraffin Oil about once per year under normal residential use (1–2 times per week). For saunas used more frequently, such as commercial settings, reapplication every 6 to 9 months will help keep the wood nourished, protected, and water-resistant. You can also touch up high-contact areas as needed between full treatments, especially if the wood starts to look dry or absorb moisture rather than repel it.

Before reapplying, be sure to clean the bench thoroughly and allow it to dry completely. Apply a thin, even coat of Paraffin Oil using a lint-free cloth or soft brush, taking care not to overapply, as thinner layers absorb and cure more effectively. Allow the surface to fully cure, ideally for 24 hours in a well-ventilated space. With this simple maintenance routine, your sauna’s wood interior will continue to age gracefully and perform beautifully for years to come.

• To check your sauna stones, remove all of them from the heater and inspect each one. Discard any that are cracked, fragile, or noticeably lighter than new stones, and clean off any dust or residue. Old stones that need replaced may feel lighter and provide a numb or hollow sound when hit together, as opposed to the sharp sound and feel of new stones.
• While it’s possible to replace just a few, we recommend replacing all the stones at once for optimal performance and ease.

Start with larger stones at the base and use smaller ones to fill tighter spaces around curves and edges. Leave gaps between stones for airflow, but make sure the heating elements are fully covered and not exposed. This prevents damage and ensures steam is generated from the stones, not the elements. The top layer should be tightly packed to retain heat effectively.

The HUUM heaters we use include a 1-year warranty on manufacturing defects provided by Harbor. After this 1-year window has passed, any claims will need to be fulfilled by HUUM.

 For privately used saunas, HUUM provides a 3-year warranty on electric heaters, wood fired heaters, and control units, and a 1-year warranty on spare parts.

 For commercially used saunas, HUUM provides a 1-year warranty on electric heaters, wood fired heaters, control units, and spare parts.
