Yes, Nuki recommends installing the Smart Lock on cylinders with an emergency function, allowing you to lock and unlock the door from the outside with a mechanical key even when a key is inserted on the inside.
The Nuki Smart Lock is designed for easy DIY installation. It is mounted on the inside of your door on the existing cylinder and key, usually using either a clamp or adhesive mount, without damaging the door or needing to drill holes.
The Nuki app will notify you when the battery level drops below 20%. If they run out completely, you can still open your door using your physical key from the outside.
